The United Learning
Trust (ULT) manages a number of Academies spread across the
country.
The ULT is a subsidiary charity of the not-for-profit charity,
the United Church Schools Trust and shares with it the objective of
managing schools which offer students a high quality education.
The ULT is currently involved in the development of five Academies:
Manchester,
Lambeth, Northampton, Paddington and Salford.
Fivesite were asked to design a system which could be rolled out
to the different academies quickly and cost-effectively. The sites
needed to be easy to update, and feature logins for both teachers
and students. Manchester was launched first, because it's the
first Academy to have officially opened, but the other sites will
follow over the coming months.

A
key features of the system is the 'Review of the Month'. Students
can log in to the site, and submit a book review. The Academy
give away book tokens to the winner each month.

Fivesite strived to give the site a friendly, open look, which
would empower the multiple site editors to get the right messages
across to visitors. Whilst the main site categories are fixed,
editors can add as many pages as they like within each category.
They can control the images on these pages, and even alter the
page layout itself. Text can be edited as if using a word processor,
meaning that bullet points and bold text can be generated without
the editor needing to understand html.
It is our Freestyle Editor which allows this to work. Find out
more about what it can do in our What's
Fivesuite? section...

Manchester
Academy is the first site to be completed, but the design will
be carried through to the other Academies. The banner graphic
at the top of the page will change to reflect the different qualities
of each Academy.
