As the sun is forcing its way through the clouds and in spring is in the air, the Fivesite web design garden is blooming with new launches of some exciting new websites.

January saw the launch of London Luton Airport's new site (www.london-luton.co.uk). The brief was to generate some e-commerce revenue through a site with no history of any success in this area. With a full redesign and some complex additional features, the new site is already blossoming and in the first few months after launch is already generating additional income for Luton Airport through ticket sales, car park bookings and advertising.

www.legaljohn.co.uk is a brand new concept to replace a rather tired and formal legal website. A London Chamber of Barristers had only ever received two leads in the last year, through their website. After consultation with Fivesite, a new slick, fresh approach was deployed, focussing squarely on speaking to the customer by engaging and building trust through the integration of a friendly, more approachable face to the legal world -"Legal John".
The sophisticated re-design and the Legal John character were dramatically validated when leads shot up from 2 a year to 130 a month. Customers clearly showed a huge amount of confidence and trust in the site with enquiries coming from parties involved in all manner of criminal activities from shop-lifting to murder!

March saw the launch of the new Xpro charity site (www.xpro.org) supporting the aging football heroes of yesteryear. Peter Shilton was the key figure at the launch dinner at Leicester football stadium. Along with the support of Bob 'The Cat' Bevan, MBE and other footballing legends the new website aims to re-connect lost team mates, invest in the research of debilitating conditions suffered by football players and be the knowledge and support base for all issues experienced by ex-professionals.

The Kite Foundation (www.kite-foundation.com) was April's big launch with a fantastic new concept designed to generate a win-win for both employees and employers who use corporate training programs to improve their staff skills. 80% of the skills learnt by employees on training days are lost or forgotten by the time they get back to work on the Monday. The Kite Foundation uses a skills transfer program to capture lessons learnt, generates goals and milestones and includes an approval cycle for management to examine the long-term effectiveness of any training undertaken. Once employees and employers achieve their long-term goals the companies involved make a donation to a charitable cause or needy social enterprise.
Late March saw Fivesite launch a richly designed site with global appeal for the intrepid mountain bikers of the world. World Bike Parks (www.worldbikeparks.com) is a complex directory of the world's best mountain biking parks and locations and aims to be "the place" to research your next mountain biking adventure. Members can add comments and reviews; get prices, locations, news and events, and see videos and pictures from over 1,000 parks already in the database.
The next few months look to be blooming marvellous for the Fivesite web-folio - and with the addition of some really exciting new clients things are really hotting up in time for summer.

For most Christmas 2010 is now a dim and distant memory, with thoughts now turned towards the elusive British Summer we each unfailingly hope for each January when the weather is at it’s greyest. There are, however, some interesting statistics and insights to be gained through looking back at online habits over the 2010 festive period.
For example, a staggering 5 million shoppers visited eBay.co.uk on Sunday 5th December (now coined ‘Cyber Sunday’ after so much online activity), pushing sales up 18% from the same day a year previously.
It was not only eBay who enjoyed a surge in online spending – the chart below shows the top shopping and classifieds websites from 'Cyber Sunday' (5th December 2010):

And if you were wondering what all of these users were searching for, below are the top 20 most searched for products, also from the 5th of December 2010:

Along with the predictable ‘perfume' and ‘christmas jumpers', Apple products had a huge presence in the top 20 list, filling 6 of the available 20 slots. Other popular items included games console accessories, the ever-popular Ugg boots and topping the list is children's favourite ‘LEGO'.
Some very interesting results, especially for those in an e-commerce space. However, it should also be noted that online shopping currently accounts for just 17% of Christmas purchases - it seems online shopping, though fast, easy and convenient, still has some way to go in overtaking the High Street.

The year that has just passed was a stellar year here at Fivesite. From working on all sorts of content managed websites and campaigns, through to niche social networks, world renowned brands, numerous international clients and celebrities, 2011 is already shaping up to be another great year.
During 2010 Fivesite welcomed lots of new members of staff including Kimberley, Lee, Darren and Greganna. Fivesite also opened its first central London office in Piccadilly with expansion set to continue through out 2011.
Fivesite now manages in excess of 750 Google Page one listings for clients great and small, which has generated thousands of leads and significant sales though out 2010.
Whilst our testimonials page speaks volumes, a great illustration of our work was confirmed by one client who graciously called in late December. Quite simply they were calling to thank us and to let us know they had been blown away by our efforts in 2010.
In their first six month period with us, they had gone from a previous position of no online leads and no online sales to a new position of a £650,000 turn over and £200,000 profit.
We felt that sums us up perfectly! Fivesite is now looking forward to 2011 with excitement, enthusiasm and even higher expectations.
